About Mongolian folk song

One kind of Mongolian folclore is folc songs. We classify folc songs like: long-phrase song, throat song, ets. Mongolians like to sing. In their folc songs they sing about their life, nature, custom, traditions and ways of living.

I'd like to tell below about Mongolian folc song "Shalzad baahan sharga" . This song is about 2 brothers ,who were hunters.

The legend of "Shalzad baahan sharga"

Once upon a time there lived two brothers in the gobi. Their family was very poor . So two brothers hunt animals, and in this way they fed their family . Once they went to hunt as usual and their parents saw them off. Two brothers usually hunted for antelopes. One of the brothers was wearing a coat made of antelopes skin.When two brothers chased after the antelopes the older brother shot his younger brother by mistake. When he found out that he killed his brother, he was very sorry for him and sang a song in honor of his brother.

But in answer younder brother is singing :

My caot , which is made of antelope skin caused my death don't tell this to the parents.So people sing this song to teach others from this tragedy.

Myth about creation of Mongolian National Musical
Instrument-Morin khuur

Once upon a time a man started his long journey. On the long way of his travelling his horse was dead. So he sorrowed his horse and stood beside the dead horse. Suddenly if was strong wind and it blew a tail and hair of the horse. He noticed that horse’s tail and hair were blowing in the wind and producing sound. As he heard whistle from the tail and hair , the new strange idea was retained in his memory. So he carved the horse’s head from wood and took 2 thin pieces of the horse’s hair and skin. The hair and skin were stretched tightly across the musical instrument to produce sound. As he played two-stringed Morin khuur by drawing a bow across the strings, he consoled himself. There is a myth , since that time Morin-khuur had originated .

Epic songs

Mongolian folk song is one rind of art which has shown complex of poltry melody ahd power of voice and music. We can express person’s internal emotion to be happy, to love, to be embarassed, be sad, respect through folk song.

So songs can be:

-Epic songs
-Lyrical songs
-Ritual songs
-Cradle songs
-Comic songs

Epic songs are a song which is shown meaning through it’s activity. For it we can include "Shalzad baakhan sharga" and "Orphaned white young camel" . It’s an ancient song which created from legend and tales, gradually it changed as duet. This kind of songs say about the case and process in labour and tragic conditions

For instance in song "Orphaned white young camel" says about the little camel without mom and it is adopted to drink milk from other mother. With the help of power of this song that little camel can have a new mother.

Ардын дуугаар хїний дотоод сэтгэлийг хєдєлгєєн: баяр бахдал, хайрлан амраглах, ичих зовох, гутрах, шоолох, хїндэтгэх зэрэг сэтгэл хєдлєлийн дїрийг харуулдаг.

Їйл явдлыг дїрсэлж , тїїгээрээ утга агуулга нээж гаргасан дууг туульсын дуу гэнэ. Їїнд: "Шалзат баахан шарга", "Єнчин цагаан ботго" дуу ордог. Эдгээр дуу маш эртний дуу ба їлгэр домогтой холбоотой байсан ба аажимдаа харилцаа дуунд шилжсэн байна. Ийм дуунд ажил хєдєлмєрийн дїнд олж мэдсэн гайхалтай ба эмгэнэлтэй учрал тохиолдолоос тїїхэн туршлагыг єгїїлсэн байдаг. Єнчин ботгыг єєр ингэнд авхуулахад дуу аялдаг байна. Дуунд тїїний ид шид хїч чадлыг нээж олсон ард тїмний туршлагыг агуулсан. Туульсын дуу нь он цагийн уртад єєр хэлбэрт шилжиж Монголд тїїхэн эртний дуу ховорджээ.

Orphaned white young camel

Student B.Dolgoonbayar 8g grade	Once upon a time one rich man gave a 100 white camels as a present to the King of China (Manchu) once in 3 years. The time has come. And this time 1 camel have deficienied. So the rich man decided to take his slave's white Female camel. But that Female camel has a baby camel the Female camel went at the end of 99 camels. She was missing her baby camel and she was of crying all the time. In the mean time baby camel was wishing that his mother will come back soon and he was going around it's peg. The rich men was neg ligent to the baby camel. So he decided to tie him with a iron chain. But the slave girl rescued him and let him go.
Poor baby camel went 2 days and 2 nights. And he Listened his mother's voice in third day. And he tried to go his mother. But he couldn't go. He is so tired and he called his mother. So his mother come. But King of China (Manchu) was very mad and he beat the Female camel with a iron whip. Although Female camel didn't want to go . So the King decided to kill her. King killed her and left her head and udder and the baby camel put his head on his mother's head. Few days later the slare girl found him and raised him. Year later baby camel grown and become a big strong white male camel. And he took his revenge for his mother. Khotgoid's foal

Once upon a time there was an extremely faot foal called "Khotgoid foal"

- Khotgoid foal, faotest horse is given award in 25^thNaadam and unreachable horse in the country It is the only horse of Tovu for travelling hunting collecting firewcod and carrying his 10 children.

Once Tovu was preparing his only horse for horse race lut other people were laughing at him that he would loose his horse and will become a poor begger. But actually at the race Tovu’s horse ran at first and everyone was praud of that fastest horse. Some of rich people wanted to buy his horse with a herd of horses. But Tovu did not want to sell them even by 100 marcs with fools. After so many years that horse got very old but at 25^th age it participatet in horse race and has taben 1^st place. Untor tunately the horse has died as soon as it reached at finishing line. When he fall down it is head did not touch the ground. And so after this story people made a song "Khotgoidyn foal’’ appraising that fasfest horse.

Нэгэн удаа Товуу гуай хониныхоо гэгдэх ганц морийг даншиг наадамд уралдуулах гэхэд нутаг усныхан нь шоолж, зарим баячууд нь хонины ганц морь даншигт тїрїїлдэг бол 5000 гаруй адуугаа талаар нэг тарааж хєєчихєєд єєрєє хїлэг хїлэглэхгїй хєл нїцгэн гуйлагчин болно гэж байв. Гэх мэтчилэн олон хїн ам алджээ. Цаг нь болоход Товуу гуайн морь тїрїїлж ирэн Халх даяар шагшин магтжээ. Ам гарсан баячууд азрага адуу амалсанч Товуу гуай эс зєвшєєрчээ.
Олон жил єнгєрсєнч хєгшин хонгор халзан морь 25 насандаа хурдан морины уяа бараадан ирж, хайрт эзнээ хараад шилгээж байсан гэнэ. Тэгээд гарааны газраас ганцаар цойлон гарч барианы газар ирээд зогсож чадахгїй унасан гэдэг. Унахдаа уран толгойгоо газар хїргээгїй юм гэдэг. Энэхїї хурдан морио магтан дуулж "Хотгойдын унага" дуу їїссэн тїїхтэй.
