The Second International Congress (Ulaanbaatar, 2-7 Sept. 1970)
124 participants from 24 countries and 2 International organizations. 130 papers were
presented.
The Third International Congress (Ulaanbaatar, 30 Aug. - 3 Sept, 1976)
153 participants from 19 countries and 4 international organizations, and over 150 papers
presented.
The Fourth International Congress. (Ulaanbaatar, 24-28 Aug. 1982)
Over 200 participants from 23 countries. 206 papers presented (including standing reports)
The Fifth International Congress (Ulaanbaatar,14-20 Sept. 1987). 230 participants from 32
countries, 284 papers presented.
The Sixth Congress (Ulaanbaatar, 11-15 Aug. 1992), 200 participants from 20 countries, 188
papers presented.
For the first time in the experience of world Mongolistics a summer School of Young Mongolists was held at the IAMS Headquarters (1989). It was attended by 70 young scholars from 17 countries.
The First Mongol-Korean Symposium on the Studies of the "Secret History of the Mongols" /Ulaanbaatar. 5-6 August 1991/. It was sponsored by the Korean Centre for "SHM" studies and hosted by the IAMS.
The International Conference dedicated to the 750th Anniversary of the Secret History of the Mongols (Ulaanbaatar, August 14-16, 1990). Some 200 scholarly papers were presented to the Conference.
The International Conference of Mongolists (New Delhi 20-23 February 1995). Jointly Sponsored by Jawaharlal Nehru University & International Association for Mongol Studies.
The 95th birthday anniversary of Professor Owen Lattimore, first President of the IAMS, was commemorated by a Lattimore Reading (Ulaanbaatar, 28 July 1995).
The International Conference devoted to the 360th Anniversary of the birthday of öndör Gegen Zanabazar, organized by the Mongolian Academy of Sciences and the International Association for Mongol Studies (Ulaanbaatar from 10-11 August 1995).
